And they said…

After Professor SKR passed away, when we started the Memorial Trust and decided to launch a website, many people wrote to us about their association with SKR. Here is a selection.

I am very pleased to hear that a new website has been created for S. K. Ramachandra Rao, who as we know, was a multi – faceted being but then, more pleasing to hear is that his own grandson, Maitreya has created and designed this website. Great! and my congratulations.

Sometime in the mid fifties of the last century, while visiting Bangalore and at the W Q Judge Press (where else?) I first met S.K.R. He had just published from his own of resources a small book on Buddhist Psychology – He gave me a copy which he inscribed. He was then lecturing at The Institute of Mental Health (now NIMHANS) which we used to joke as euphemism for the good old mental asylum. Since that time, every time I visited Bangalore I found his eminence increasing until he blossemed as our own Leonardo of Bangalore.

Best wishes for his jayanti.

Professor SKR was a teacher par excellence. I am fortunate to be his student at NIMHANS when I joined there in 1965. Every topic he dealt with was connected to everything else that existed in life: mind to anthropology, to history, to culture, to biochemistry, and what not. Every class of his was a scintillating experience full of wisdom and enlightening that instilled confidence in pupils and empowered him as well.

I congratulate the team for bringing such a good website on him. And all those who know SKR will ever be grateful to your efforts.
Thank you
